Candied Lights

Embracing abstract themes in my photography is something I’ve always strived to do, but have never fully made a point of until now. Candied Lights was shot on New Years, when the city was lit by the hundreds if not thousands of fireworks going off each and every second. This collection embraces the black background and cuts through it with a variety of clearly defined and blurred light sources. I wanted it to feel more like a series of paintings rather than photos. Sometimes I think I accomplished that and sometimes I don’t,  and even think some of the photos are wrong. However, that’s only because this concept of “abstractness” is still new to me. It still makes me nervous. A good type of nervous… So, as I’m slowly learning to embrace it and see it’s beauty, this is my attempt at a body of work.
